There is no doubt in many people's mind that eternity rings are truly stunning pieces of diamond jewellery. What many people do not realise is how rich in tradition these rings are and why we continue to honour and value them today.

Eternity rings are designed to show a row of diamonds the entire length of the band, creating a diamond stream which appears endless to represent the element of eternity. Although there are half band rings available on the market which don't have diamonds across the entire band, they still tend to have diamonds set to give that illusion. The main theme surrounding these rings is, naturally, eternity. The design is not the only thing that represents this; the diamonds themselves are a meaningful representation of something that will last forever as they have lasted for millions of years.

Eternity rings are traditionally given as anniversary gifts. Often seen as an upgrade to the plainer wedding ring, they are often given after a couple reaches a certain milestone anniversary that is special to them. Rather than waiting to reach a milestone to upgrade to a plainer style ring, many couples are opting to use them to begin with. Eternity rings can be paired with diamond engagement rings for maximum sparkle, but many brides prefer to wear just the eternity ring, for a more streamlined look.

The tradition is continuously changing, as cultures change and adapt. There will always be people who want a ring to represent a certain moment, but saying this there is also a number of people who are buying eternity rings for themselves, simply because these rings are so stunning and beautiful.
